They walked around town for a little while, Luke pointing things out and Lorelai either listening to him intently or pestering him with questions to which he replied willingly. They started walking along a street, Lorelai talking a mile a minute about her childhood, how she grew up as an only child with her parents not being there for her and how she was eventually happy with the situation as he stopped abruptly.

“Hm? What’s the matter?” “That’s where I grew up” He squinted into the sun uncomfortably “Hey, do you need sunglasses? Cause I think I’ve got some spare ones in here somewhere” she rummaged around her huge Fendi bag and finally pulled out some black Ray-Bans. “Should I ask why you’ve got men’s sunglasses in there?” She shrugged “I thought they would go well with my boyish kind of look – which I abandoned the second I saw myself in the mirror – and they’ve been in there ever since. You can keep them, they look really good on you” He shuffled his feet, at a loss of words “Uh.... thanks”

“So this is where you grew up, huh? It’s nice!” “My parents still live in there, but they won’t be home this time of day, maybe we’ll run into them later” “Oooooh yay, I’d love to meet your parents, I wonder if the flannel runs in the family” she mocked him but he didn’t mind, at all. “I’ll let this one go, just ‘cause it’s you, but I do not tolerate mocking about my choice of attire” “Wow, I feel special” she giggled “That’s because you are…” he muttered, more to himself “Excuse me? What did you just say? I didn’t catch that” Did I hear correctly? Did he just say I’m special? Nah, I’m fantasizing again *sigh*

“Nevermind, look, there’s Babette’s place, I told you about her on the town square, if you have Babette and Miss Patty, you don’t need a newspaper to know what’s going on in Stars Hollow.” “Hey, that house is really pretty” “Which one, Babette’s?” she shook her head and sent her curls flying “No, the one right next to her’s, I loooove it” “You do?” This time she nodded vigorously “Yes I do” “You love it?” “Wanna marry it!” “You have strange passions….” He grinned at her “I like washing dishes too, I’m multi-facetted-abnormal! Come on, blue boy, let’s go” she tugged at his hand and they walked further down the street.
