Kapitel 46
Lorelai trat durch die Tür des Dragonfly. Die Bauarbeiten waren schon weit vorangeschritten.
Es war toll zu sehen, wie das Hotel immer mehr Form annahm. Je mehr Zeit verging, desto realer wurde alles. Sie konnte sich schon fast vorstellen, an der Rezeption zu stehen und auf die ersten Gäste zu warten.
Die letzten Tage hatten Sookie und sie damit zugebracht, alle möglichen Antiquitätengeschäfte nach Möbeln zu durchforsten.
Nur einräumen konnten sie sie noch nicht. Die Räume waren noch nicht fertig tapeziert und das Parkett musste noch verlegt werden.
Lore schritt auf Tom zu, den Leiter der Baufirma.
âHey, wie geht es voran?â
âWenn es weiter so gut vorangeht sind wir morgen oder übermorgen mit den Tapeten und dem Parkett fertig. Zumindest was die Eingangshalle und die ersten Zimmer angeht.â
âUnd wie sieht es mit der Küche aus? Sie wissen doch, dass der Herd morgen geliefert wird.â
âDie Küche können wir noch nicht fliesen. Erst müssen alle Rohre fertig verlegt werden. Da müssen sie sich schon noch ein Weilchen gedulden.â
âGut. Dann werden wir ihn wohl so lange in der Scheune lagern müssen.â
âDie Pferde werden sich freuen. Falls sie Hunger haben, können sie sich so ein schönes Schnitzel braten.â
âPferde essen kein Schnitzel, Tom.â
âMerkwürdige Tiere.â Damit wendete sich Tom wieder seiner Arbeit zu und Lorelai machte sich auf den Weg zu Sookie.
Als sie die Küche betrat, stand Sookie am Fenster und blickte nach drauÃen.
âHey, was machst du da?â Fragte Lore neugierig.
âIst die Aussicht nicht traumhaft. Wenn ich koche, kann ich so immer nach drauÃen gucken und die Landschaft bewundern.â
âSo lange du dabei das Essen nicht anbrennen lässt.â
âBestimmt nicht. Das wäre nicht gut für meinen schönen Herd.â
âApropos Herd, Sookie: Es wird noch eine Weile dauern, bis wir ihn hier aufstellen können. Die Fliesen müssen noch verlegt werden und Tom sagt, sie wollen erst das Parkett verlegen.â
âAber der Herd kommt doch schon morgen!â Sookie machte ein fassungsloses Gesicht.
âIch weiÃ. Deswegen habe ich mir gedacht, wir könnten den Herd ja solange in die Scheuen stellen. Er ist ja noch verpackt, also kann ihm dort gar nichts passieren.â
âIn die Scheune? Nein! Ich nehm ihn mit zu mir.â
âWas? Du kannst doch nicht den riesigen Herd mit zu dir nehmen!â
âWieso denn nicht? Ich rufe dann gleich das Transportunternehmen an und lass die Lieferadresse ändern.â
âUnd was wird Jackson dazu sagen, wenn du mit einem riesigen Herd nach Hause kommst?â
âIch muss es doch auch verstehen, wenn er drauÃen bei seinen Zucchinis schläft, also muss er auch den Herd akzeptieren.â
âIhr beide passt wirklich traumhaft zusammen.â
âIch weiÃ.â Bei dem Gedanken an Jackson huscht ein verträumtes Lächeln über ihr Gesicht.
âWow, du bist ja noch richtig verliebt. Das ist süÃ.â
âIch bin so glücklich und wenn das Baby dann erstmal da ist, sind wir eine richtige kleine Familie.â
âIch freu mich so für euch. Was denkst du, wie lange es noch dauern wird?â
âKeine Ahnung. Der errechnete Termin ist in 4 Wochen. Ich bin schon richtig aufgeregt.â
âGing mir bei Rory auch so.â
âDenkst du, dass ich eine gute Mutter sein werde?â
âDie beste.â
âDanke.â
âIch muss noch mal nach den Tapeten sehen, damit jedes Zimmer auch mit der richtigen tapeziert wird.â
âIn Ordnung, ich genieà noch ein bisschen die Aussicht.â
Lorelai schloss die Küchentür hinter sich und machte sich auf den Weg in die obere Etage.
Als sie um die Ecke bog, wäre sie fast mit jemandem zusammengestoÃen.
Als sie den Kopf hob, blickte sie in Deans Gesicht.
âHallo, Lorelai.â BegrüÃte Dean sie schüchtern.
âHallo, Dean. Was machst du denn hier?â Ãberrascht sah sie ihn an.
Seit mit Rory Schluss war, hatten sie kein Wort miteinander gewechselt und jetzt standen sie sich plötzlich schweigend gegenüber. Eine drückende Stille breitete sich zwischen ihnen aus.
âHören sie, Lorelaiâ, begann Dean zögernd. âTom hat mir den Job hier angeboten, aber wenn sie etwas dagegen haben, dann kündige ich sofort wieder. Ich meine wegen der Sache mit Rory und mir.â
âIst schon in Ordnung Dean. WeiÃt du, es ist viel Zeit vergangen und ich habe dich immer gemocht. Du warst ein toller erster Freund für Rory und ich möchte dir nicht immer aus dem Weg gehen müssen. Frieden?â
âIn Ordnung.â Ein Lächeln machte sich auf Deans Gesicht breit und ihm war, als würde ihm ein Stein vom Herzen fallen. âWie geht es Rory?â
âGut. Sie studiert in Yale.â
âJa, ich weiÃ. Bei dem Kleinstadttratsch bekommt man so was mit, auch wenn man nicht miteinander redet.â
âDa hast du Recht. Und wie geht es dir so?â
âGut ⦠sehr gut.â
âDas ist schön für dich.â
âLorelai, ich muss da noch etwas mit ihnen besprechen.â
âWas denn?â
âKommt Rory nächstes Wochenende nach Hause?â
âIch denke schon. Wieso fragst du?â
âIch werde nächstes Wochenende heiraten.â
Einen Moment lang wusste Lorelai nicht was sie sagen sollte, dann rang sie sich zu einem âHerzlichen Glückwunschâ durch.
âDanke.â
âUnd wer ist die glückliche?â
âLindsay. Sie kennen sie vielleicht. Rory ging mal mit ihr in eine Klasse.â
âJa, ich erinnere mich an sie. Sie war ein nettes Mädchen.â In Wirklichkeit wusste Lorelai nicht mehr, wer diese Lindsay war, doch das würde sie herausfinden.
âDas ist sie heute noch.â
âSicher.â
âWissen sie, ich dachte nur, dass es vielleicht nicht so gut wäre, wenn Rory da ist.â
âDa hast du sicher Recht.â
âDean!â Ertönte in diesem Moment eine Stimme aus dem Nebenraum. âIch bezahle dich nicht fürâs Quatschen.â
âEntschuldigen sie, Tom. Ich verspreche ihnen ihn nie wieder abzulenken. Tschüss, Dean.â
âTschau, Lorelai. Schön mal wider mit ihnen geredet zu haben.â
âDas finde ich auch.â
