“Wow, it’s beautiful out here” Lorelai stood on the bridge over the little pond and slowly turned in every direction. “Yeah, that’s where I come when I need time to think, to reflect or when I just wanna be alone, you know” “Sure, everybody should have a place like that” she sat down on the edge of the bridge and patted the spot next to her “Come, sit! So tomorrow’s the bid dance marathon, huh?” Luke nodded and stared into the water “You gonna watch?” she pressed the subject a little more “Nah, I-“ seeing the disappointed look in her eyes he quickly changed his mind “I’m gonna participate” What?? Where did that come from?
“Oh..” ‘So he has a date for tomorrow” she thought, disappointed ‘Whoa, I just said this to keep me from disappointing her and now she’s looking into the lake like her favorite pet had died. “So I guess I’ll meet your date tomorrow, huh?” ‘Aaah, there’s the rub’ “Actually, I didn’t mean participate as in dance, rather as in ‘Make the coffee for those unfortunate souls who do participate as in dance’” Her face lit up at his words “So we can go to the dance and watch?” He cringed at the thought, but only on the inside “Sure, we definitely will. Okay, it’s getting dark, come on” He got up and held out her hand, which she took and he pulled her up. Suddenly they were really close, Lorelai’s hand still in Luke’s and she looked up at him with a smile playing around the corners of her mouth. Luke took several steps back “Um, I’ll walk you back to the inn” ‘Huh? I thought that he wanted this as much as I did? What happened?’
“No I’ll be alright, don’t worry, I’ll find my way back, you don’t have to take me” Please accompany me, please Luke, I don’t wanna go back alone, pl- “You sure?” “Mhm” ‘Don’t make me Luke, pleeease’ “Well then, I’ll see you tomorrow, 11ish okay?” “Sure, whatever, see ya tomorrow” She averted her eyes, turned around and slowly walked back to the Inn.
