Sie hatte mir ihrer Mutter darüber gesprochen, ihr alles erzählt. Natürlich hatte sie damit gerechnet, dass die ältere Gilmore total ausrasten würde, wegen Jess. Weil sie ihn noch nie gemocht hatte. Weil sie schon immer mit dem Ex-Freund ihrer Tochter Probleme gehabt hatte. Weil er Rorys Leben durcheinander gebracht hatte. Weil er ganz Stars Hollow aus seinen Fugen hatte geraten lassen. Weil er immer nur Ãrger gebracht hatte. Weil er Rory schon so oft verletzt hatte. Weil er es nun wieder getan hatte. Weil er der Grund war, weshalb Rory ihre Hochzeit hatte platzen lassen. Weil, weil, weil.... es gab zu viele âweilâsâ um Lorelai nicht ausrasten zu lassen.
Gebannt sah Rory ihre Mutter an, wartete auf den totalen Ausbruch, auf das Unverständnis. Doch nichts geschah. Ihre Mutter hatte einen undefinierbaren Blick in den blauen Augen, den sie beim besten Willen nicht deuten konnte. Lorelai sah aus, als ob sie fieberhaft nachdachte. Rory wollte gerne an ihren Gedanken teilhaben, traute sich aber nicht recht ihre Mutter anzusprechen und aus den Gedanken zu reiÃen, da sie immer noch mit einem Gewitter rechnete. Dann richtete Lorelai den Blick von der Küchenspüle auf ihre erschöpft aussehende Tochter, die sie fragend ansah.
âAlso.â, begann Lorelai. âIch weià nicht was ich davon halten soll, aber ich habe das Gefühl da stimmt irgendetwas nicht.â
Rory erwiderte ihren Blick nun sehr erstaunt. âWas meinst du damit?â
âIch denke, dass Jess vielleicht Recht hatte.â, gab Lorelai offen zu, obwohl es ihr nicht leicht gefallen war, dies über ihre Lippen zu bringen. Jetzt saà sie hier ihrer über alles geliebten Tochter gegenüber und verteidigte den Menschen, der dieser am meistens wehgetan hatte.
âWas?â, fragte Rory aufgebracht. âDu stellst dich auf Jess Seite? Wie kannst du so etwas tun? Nach alldem was passiert ist. Er hat mich so sehr verletzt. Er hat mich ausgenutzt! Er hat mich wieder verlassen...â
âStop!â, rief Lore, um den verzweifelten und anklagenden Redeschwall ihrer Tochter zu beenden. âIch stelle mich auf gar keine Seite. Ich bin deine Mutter, ich möchte das du glücklich wirst. Ich höre dir zu und bin für dich da.â, stellte sie klar.
Ihr Gegenüber verschränkte die Arme vor der Brust und wartete noch immer auf eine Erklärung, also fuhr Lore fort. âIch will nichts falsches behaupten und niemandem meine Meinung aufzwängen, aber wenn du mich fragst, dann stimmt da was ganz gewaltig nicht. Ich glaube Jess, dass er von dieser Vanessa getrennt ist. âWarumâ, fragst du? Weil ich mir sicher bin, dass er dich liebt. Du warst die einzige die ihm jemals etwas bedeutet hat â mal abgesehen von Luke. Wieso sollte er dich plötzlich wieder enttäuschen?â
âMag sein, aber woher willst du wissen, dass er wirklich nicht mehr mit dieser Vanessa zusammen ist.â
âIch kann mir einfach nicht vorstellen, dass er mit so einer blonden Barbie zusammen ist â wenn ich deiner Beschreibung Glauben schenken darf -, die dich so behandelt und so eine Show abzieht.â
âEs ist nicht ihre Schuld!â, rief Rory laut. âEr hat sie betrogen! Nicht andersherum.â
âRory!â, rief Lorelai verzweifelt zurück. âVerstehst du es denn nicht? Anscheinend sind die beiden wirklich nicht mehr zusammen und sie ist nur zurück gekommen, weil sie ihre Sachen holen wollte oder ihn um eine zweite Chance anflehen wollte oder was weià ich. Und da hat sie dich gesehen und sich ein bisschen an ihm gerächt, indem sie dir die geschockte Verlobte vorgespielt hat. Wieso sollte er so dumm sein und dich mit nach Hause nehmen, wenn er wirklich verlobt wäre und wüsste, dass seine Verlobte einen Schlüssel hat? Das wäre ja ziemlich dumm gewesen! Und so dumm ist selbst Jess nicht.â
Nachdem Lorelai sich so verausgabt hatte, warf sie Rory ein durchdringenden Blick zu.
âIch weià doch auch nicht, was ich glauben soll!â, sagte Rory leise und lieà sich auf einen Stuhl sinken. Bevor Lore zu ihr kommen und sie trösten konnte, klingelte ihr Handy und sie nahm ab. Nachdem sie mit dem Anrufer ein paar schnelle Worte gewechselt hatte, wandte sie sich an Rory.
âHör zu, SüÃe. Luke braucht mich im Diner. Kommst du dann nach und wir bereden alles beim Essen zu Ende?!â, fragte sie und streichelte Rorys Arm. Sie nickte nur schwach mit dem Kopf und lieà ihn dann zurück auf die Tischplatte sinken.
Als ihr Handy klingelte, schreckte sie hoch und kramte das Teil schnell aus ihrer Tasche hervor. Stirnrunzelnd betrachtete sie das Display, auf welchem ihr eine ihr unbekannte Nummer entgegen blinkte.
Sie nahm ab. âHallo?â
Als sie die Stimme am Ende vernahm, überlief sie ein eiskalter Schauer. âRory? Ich bin es und bevor du auflegst, hör mir erst mal kurz zu.â
âWoher hast du meine Nummer, Jess?!â, erwiderte sie nur kühl, nachdem sie sich wieder gefasst hatte.
âLukeâ. Er geriet ins Straucheln, als er die Kälte ihrer Stimme spürte.
âWar ja klar.â
âHör zu, es tut mir leid. Du darfst Vanessa nicht glauben. Wir sind nicht mehr verlobt. Ich habe mit ihr Schluss gemacht, aber sie versucht es ständig mit irgendwelchen Intrigen rückgängig zu machen. Ich will das aber nicht. Ich will dich, Rory. Ich ... ich liebe dich!â Wie tausend Pfeile durchzuckten sie diese Worte. Wieso sagt er das? Wieso tat es so weh, wenn sie diesen Satz hörte? Sie wollte das nicht mehr hören. Sie wollte nicht mehr belogen werden. âEs tut mir so leid. Ich hätte es dir früher sagen sollen. Ich war so ein Idiot. Es war nur so überraschend, als du aufgetaucht bist. Wie ein Sprung ins kühle Wasser. Als ich dich sah, habe ich aufgehört zu denken und nur noch dich gesehen....â, stammelte er vor sich hin.
Er lauschte zum andern Ende der Leitung. âRory?â Keine Antwort. Nur die unwissende Stille. âRory?â, versuchte er es abermals, doch er hörte nur das Knistern der Leitungen. Die junge Frau am anderen Ende hatte schon lange aufgelegt und hatte somit seine Worte nicht hören können, aber das wollte sie auch gar nicht.
Rory lag mit zuckenden Schultern auf dem Tisch und versuchte sein Gesicht aus ihren Gedanken zu verbannen. Jedoch ohne Erfolg, jedes Mal wenn sie die Augen schloss, sah sie geradewegs in seine kaffeebraunen Augen. Wenn sie die Augen aber aufbehielt, kreisten all ihre Gedanken nur um die eine Frage. > Warum tut er mir das an? <
