Na dann will ich mal nicht so sein.. lustig dass du das mit Kirk als Bademeister ansprichst.....
Chapter 2:
They dozed for twenty minutes before whimpers from the stroller could be heard and soon turned into cries.
âI get herâ, Lorelai said and got off of Luke and walked to her daughter. âHey, my angel, whatâs wrong? Arenât you tired Kaira?â she cooed and took her daughter out of the stroller and rocked her softly. The cries turned into whimpering and fussing again and she stroked over her daughters cheek.
âWhatâs wrong with her?â Luke asked and wanted to get up, but Lorelai stopped him and sat down beside him.
âI donât know. Usually she sleeps after I fed her, her diaper is clean and she is in the shade, so I donât knowâ, Lorelai replied and turned her daughter around to look at her. She couldnât find anything.
âHand her overâ, Luke said and Lorelai handed him the baby. He cradled her against his naked chest and stroked over back.
âEverythingâs okay, sweety. Daddy is here and your crazy mother as well. Your brother is sleeping. No need to cryâ, he said quietly with his deep voice and Lorelai had to smile at the picture. This tall man holding the small baby in his large hands as if she was the most precious thing he had ever seen. It always touched her when she saw him with their kids and it amazed her, what a great father he was. The gruff diner owner was gone and replaced by a soft and caring father the second the kids were around.
âSeems like she just missed her daddyâ, Lorelai smiled when Kaira calmed down.
âYeah, seems like itâ, he smiled and placed a kiss on his daughterâs head.
âYouâre such a softyâ, she smiled and kissed him before she snuggled up to him and her daughter.
âWait until we get home, then Iâm gonna beat you up againâ, Luke whispered back and winked at her.
âKinkyâ, Lorelai giggled and Luke rolled his eyes.
âIs she sleeping?â she asked him and pointed to the baby when Kaira was suddenly quiet.
âYeah, I think soâ, he nodded and looked down at her.
âIâm gonna lay her down in her strollerâ, Lorelai said and wanted to take Kaira from him.
âNo, leave her. Maybe sheâs just dozing and starts crying the second we lay her downâ, he said and readjusted his daughter, cradled her in his arms so he could see her face.
âShe looks nothing like Samâ, he stated, although he had said it so many times before.
âSam looks like you with my hair-color. I think, and trust me, I donât want to say this, but I think she looks a lot like my mother, just in blondeâ, Lorelai said.
âYeah, youâre right. Letâs just hope she wonât be like your motherâ, Luke said and wrinkled his forehead.
âNah, Kaira is such a gentle soul already. And I think it canât hurt to inherit my motherâs legs though for when sheâs older. My mother still has great legsâ, Lorelai sighed.
âWhy are you sighing?â Luke asked.
âThe one thing I wanted from her, I didnât get: I donât have her legsâ, she clarified and looked down at her own legs.
âPlease tell me youâre not complaining about your legs. You have great legsâ, Luke protested and ran one hand briefly over her thigh.
âTrue, but I canât hear it often enoughâ, she grinned.
âOh the work, womanâ, Luke groaned and placed another kiss on Kairaâs head.
âLadies and gentlemenâ, Taylorâs voice suddenly echoed over the place, so loud that it made their ears ring and Kaira immediately started to fuss again.
âTake her, Iâm gonna kill Taylorâ, Luke said, handed the baby to Lorelai and marched off to find Taylor. When he reached the first speaker he pulled out the cable, so that Kaira could calm down and Sam would keep sleeping.
He found Taylor in the life-guard cabin, a microphone in the hand, talking about his responsibility for this pool, the building of the pool and so on and so on. The speaker on the other side of the pool was still working, so at least half the people could hear his speech, although he wasnât aware that Luke had unplugged the cable of the other speaker.
âHey! Taylor stop that noise!â Luke yelled when he reached him.
âWell Luke I have to welcome the citizens of Stars Hollow at the new public poolâ¦â
âYouâre waking up my kids with your annoying babblingâ, Luke interrupted him.
âLuke, I am sorry to hear that, but as the town selectman I have toâ¦â Taylor started again and a huge crowd surrounded the cabin already to see the show.
âYou have to let my kids sleepâ, Luke yelled and unplugged the microphone, took it out of Taylorâs hands and marched off again.
âYouâre stealing my microphone! Youâre committing a crime Lucas Danes!â Taylor yelled after him.
âIf you donât shut up Iâm going to kick your ass around! THEN I will commit a crimeâ, Luke replied and walked away.
âYou should have yelled louder, I only understood half of itâ, Lorelai complained and pouted when he arrived back at their place, but then laughed.
âYou took his microphone away?â she giggled.
âOtherwise he will wake up the kidsâ, Luke shrugged, still red in his face with anger.
âYouâre one hell of a father Luke Danesâ, Lorelai said and put her free hand over her heart, and cradled Kaira with the other.
âYou betchaâ, he smiled, threw the microphone to their stuff in the shade and then sat back down next to her and took Kaira again.
~*~
One hour later Sam and Kaira were awake again. While Lorelai build sand-castles with Sam Luke lay on his stomach on the blanket and played with Kaira. She screamed in delight and her arms and legs struggled whenever Luke put the cotton blanket down, behind which he hid his face.
Luke laughed as well and placed a kiss on his daughters belly whenever she screamed and gurgled, what brought him a few kicks against his chin.
âHuh, I think you need a fresh diaper, princessâ, he said after a while and took off her pink bathing suit and her diaper.
âLorelai, where is her diaper bag?â he turned to his wife and she pointed to the stroller without pausing her game with Sam.
Luke got up and got the diaper bag, then sat back down and opened his daughterâs diaper.
âAh Jeezâ, he exclaimed and took several baby-wipes out of the package.
âAt least she doesnât have a âlethal weaponââ, Lorelai smiled and raised her eyebrows.
âYou just have to hold down the diaper a bit longer, so that he can adjust to the cold airâ, Luke told her and took the dirty diaper away and wrapped it up, before he threw it in the plastic-bag they had brought.
âSo the cold air was the reason why I got peed at, at least once a day?â Lorelai asked.
âWho pees, mommy?â Sam asked, suddenly interested in his parents talk, when he picked up the word âpeeâ.
âYou peed at mommy, my friend, when you were as old as Kairaâ, Lorelai told him.
âNoâ, Sam said, shook his head and made a disgusted face.
âYes, you did. At least once a day when I changed youâ, Lorelai nodded.
âNoâ, Sam said again and shook his head vigorously. âDiaper, mommyâ, he said and pointed to the diaper he was wearing.
âYes, now youâre wearing a diaperâ, she smiled and stopped discussing with him, knowing that he would start crying if she insisted that she was right.
âLucas Danes!â Taylor suddenly showed up and pointed at him, Kirk by his side in wearing a lifeguard outfit, just like the guys in Baywatch.
âAw Jeezâ, Sam said and fled into his motherâs arms.
âWhat?â Luke grumped, but kept creaming and powdering Kaira.
âI want my microphone backâ, Taylor said.
âNoâ, Luke said and shook his head.
âYou are a thief! I will call the police andâ¦â Taylor started again.
âI will shove the microphone up youâre aâ¦â Luke started, but Lorelai interrupted him before he could say the word.
âYou will get it back when we leave Taylorâ, she said and smiled politely.
âI will take your word for it Lorelaiâ Taylor said haughtily. âI will never understand how you can stand this.. this man all day longâ, he went on.
âShut up Taylor!â Luke interrupted him once again.
âSâut up Taylorâ, Sam repeated and giggled.
âThat is just great. You should really watch your words around your own children, Lukeâ, Taylor lectured him.
âMake him leaveâ, Luke said through gritted teeth to Lorelai, then concentrated back on his task of changing Kairaâs diaper.
âTaylor, I really think it would be better if you leave nowâ, Lorelai turned to Taylor.
âAll right, all right, but I expect the microphone to be back tonight, otherwise I will have to sue your husbandâ, he said.
âI heard you Taylorâ, Lorelai nodded obediently and was glad when he finally left before Luke would lose his patience.
âHey, what did I miss?â Sookie asked suddenly and walked towards them with her children.
âJust Taylor bugging us again, nothing newâ, Lorelai shrugged.
âAh okay. Hi Samâ, Sookie shrugged also and waved at Sam.
âHi Sookieâ, he waved back .
âAw, heâs so cute. I love it when he wavesâ, Sookie gushed and spread out her blanket next to Lorelaiâs.
âDavey could you blow up the water-wings, pleaseâ, she turned to her son.
âI donât need water- wingsâ, he said and threw his clothes on the blanket.
âI know you donât, but your sisters doâ, she told him and gave him a look, so he knew he shouldnât fight her on this.
âAw man, always me! Why canât they blow up their stupid water-wings themselves?!â he muttered, but started to blow them up.
âWhatâs wrong with him?â Lorelai asked and adjusted Sam, who had sat down in her lap.
âHe wanted to come here with his friends, alone, and I said noâ, Sookie told her.
âAh okay, that explainsâ, Lorelai nodded. âHey Davey, but isnât it nice to have so many beautiful women to accompany you? Martha, Karen, Kaira and you mother and me, of courseâ, Lorelai teased him.
âNoâ, he replied and threw the first blown-up water-wing onto the blanket.
âDonât let them tease you, Davey. Sam and I are here as wellâ, Luke said and picked up Kaira to put on her hat again.
âThank godâ, Davey said.
âAw, male bonding, how cuteâ, Lorelai giggled and Sookie joined her.
âLeave the boy aloneâ, Luke replied and patted Davey on the shoulder and gave him a nod.
âWhere is Jackson?â Lorelai asked while Sookie undressed her daughters meanwhile.
âWith his pepperonis. When itâs so hot he has to stay there and look after themâ, Sookie replied and helped her youngest daughter to step into the bathing-suit.
âMommy, Iâm finished, can I go swimming now?â Davey asked and dropped the other water-wings onto the blanket.
âYou can go into the kids pool over there where I see youâ.
âBut Mom, I can swimâ, he protested.
âYes, you can swim, but your sisters canât and they will follow you like little puppies, so you have to stay hereâ, Sookie told him.
âBut thatâs so unfair mom! I can never do anything when they are aroundâ, he yammered.
âWhy donât you take the girls to the kids-pool and I will take Sam and Davey to the normal pool with me. I could use some cooling of as wellâ, Luke suggested.
âYou wanna go with Luke and Sam?â Sookie asked her son.
âYeah!â he yelled enthusiastically and grabbed Lukeâs hand.
âYou really wanna take Sam?â Lorelai asked surprised.
âYeah sure, just get him out of his diaper. We will stop at the toilets before and Iâll take his water wings with us so he can splash around a bitâ, Luke said.
âOkayâ, Lorelai smiled and took Samâs diaper off before she put his trunks on.
âThere you go, honeyâ, she said and swatted her sons butt playfully, before she handed him over to Luke, who pecked her lips and handed her Kaira before he walked of with Sam and Davey in tow and they heard him groaning annoyance when Kirk suddenly showed up beside them and accompanied them to the pool.
âThere they goâ, Sookie giggled.
âThe fearsome foursomeâ, Lorelai laughed and wiped Kairaâs mouth with a towel when the baby drooled on her shoulder.
