Like last season (and the season before that), Grey's Anatomy has been renewed for 23 more episodes for it's fourth season. Obviously, ABC can up that order (as evidenced by the fact that season two had 27 episodes, and season three had 25) if they want to (and hopefully they'll want to), but at the moment, 23 is the number they've decided on. The first of 23 all-new Grey's airs on Thursday, September 27.

Going Grey: It's the middle of July and Grey's Anatomy cast and crew are back at it with new cast member Chyler Leigh telling press, "Everybody's happy to be back." Everybody? First of all Isaiah Washington is gone – he got bounced. Also missing is Kate Walsh, who jumped ship for the new show Private Practice. On her blog, series creator Shonda Rhimes tells us, "Last season was so dramatic and everything came crashing down. This season will be the redemption from all that mayhem." But isn't Rhimes over at PP most of the time these days?

Pickens declined to discuss Washington but did offer some kind words for Walsh. "She was such integral part of the cast and so beautiful and funny," he said. "But I'm so happy for her with the new show. I wish her nothing but success with it."

In the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, viewers watched as medical intern Dr. Isobel “Izzie” (Katherine Heigl) finally came clean about her true feelings for her best friend and colleague, Dr. George O’Malley (T.R. Knight). The revelation came some time after the two characters ended up sleeping together in a drunken stupor. However, a big question mark was left in the air as the episode ended with George reacting strangely to Izzie’s confession.

Since the writers of the show had been building up Izzie and George’s relationship throughout the third season, it did not come as a big surprise when the pair finally reached a deeper level of intimacy. However, this is not to say that that the viewers of the show have reacted positively to what has transpired between the two characters. In fact, according to the TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello, the new relationship did not fare well during a recently conducted focus group session.

Chris O'Donnell Weighs In on Grey's Anatomy

Meredith and McDreamy called it quits (again!) in the Grey’s Anatomy season finale. So could the heartbroken doc wind up back in Finn’s arms when the show returns? TV Guide caught up with Finn's portrayer at a TCA panel over the weekend in L.A.

“I’d go back for a while,” says Chris O’Donnell, who played the ex Meredith dumped for Derek. “It’s a great show. They’re having wonderful success, and I was really grateful to be a part of it.”

Papa Doc? In addition to all the new interns running around Seattle Grace this fall, we're hearing Shonda Rhimes plans to bring a slightly more mature physician into the Grey's Anatomy mix as well. Producers are currently looking for a male doc around the age of 60 to play a recurring role.

SpoilerPaging Dr. McDreamy! Meredith Grey may have one more thing to worry about in the upcoming season of Grey's Anatomy: Actress Chyler Leigh is joining the show.

Leigh, 25, will be a series regular, playing Meredith's half sister, Lexie Grey – a new intern at Seattle Grace, a rep for ABC Television Studios confirms to PEOPLE.

Leigh first appeared in the last two episodes of the previous season, where her character's chemistry with Derek Shepard (Patrick Dempsey) caused tension between him and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo).

She previously starred in the short-lived series Reunion and That 80s Show and has appeared on The Practice and 7th Heaven. She also starred in 2001's Not Another Teen Movie.

Leigh joins the cast on the heels of Isaiah Washington's dismissal from the show on June 9, when he was informed that ABC was not picking up his option to return to the hit series.

The Grey's Anatomy cast began filming the show's fourth season on Wednesday after a two-month hiatus.

News of Leigh's possible hiring was first reported by USA Today.

SpoilerABC recently held a Grey's-centric focus group; the prospect of a McDreamy-Lexie hookup tested 95% negative and in addition, 90% had negative feelings about the character of Lexie, even though she only appeared in two scenes. His final words on the topic were "Chyler Leigh, you may wanna devise a Plan B"..

Entering their first year as residents, Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, Izzie Stevens and Alex Karev now have interns of their own to mentor. Among the new interns are George, forced to repeat his internship after failing his exams, and Lexie Grey, Meredith's half-sister.

Ausiello: Well, they're not officially dead, but it's not looking good for the embattled lovebirds after they got eviscerated in a recent focus group. A source close to ABC tells me that George and Izzie polled 95 percent negative, leading one of the 200 or so participants to conclude that, "Gizzie will be dropped." (I hereby take back all the bad stuff I've ever said about focus groups. I love focus groups. Focus groups are awesome.)
