hey,
ein neues chapter...
es ist eigentlich schon seit Weihnachten fertig, aber es gefiel mir nie. Ich habe es 1000 Mal geaendert und bin am Schluss wieder zur ersten Variante zurueck gekommen... It's totally cheesy und ein bisschen kurz, aber ich wusste nicht, wie ich es sonst schreiben sollte...

[FONT=&quot]Chapter 16 Donna Reed, Judy and a unit[/FONT]



[FONT=&quot]Everybody's looking for that something, one thing that makes it all complete. You find it in the strangest places, places you never knew it could be. Well, for me it's waking up beside you, to watch the sunrise on your face to know that I can say I love you in any given time or space.[/FONT]


[FONT=&quot]Two days later Luke got a phone call in the middle of the night. Slowly, he reached out his hand and took the phone.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Hello?” he asked sleepily.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Mr. Danes? This is Carole. Just wanted to tell you, your wife… or girlfriend… I’m sorry, I never know that… Anyway, she’s in labor and wants you there.”[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]Suddenly, Luke was wide awake. He jumped out of bed, dressed and half an hour later, he faced Virginia Mason. But before he entered, he took a deep breath. He felt like he was flying, he soon would hold his own baby in his hands. He always wanted one. He just hoped that the kid would just be like his mother. Gorgeous, sweet, charming and smart. But above all, he wished, it would be healthy.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Luke’s heart became heavier. He had talked to Lorelai’s doctors the previous days and they all agreed that Lorelai’s survival chances were pretty slim. But there was a chance, if they’d start the chemo right after the child was born. And if she’d really fight like hell, she might survive. [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]That ‘might’ really freaked Luke out. He didn’t know how he would survive, if Lorelai wouldn’t make it through. He had been living just a half-life the last eight months and he didn’t know if he could live one of those again. He had to, he knew that, but he just couldn’t see a way how he should raise this kid alone.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Luke, again, took a deep breath and then entered the hospital. Lorelai already was in the second hour of labor and it seemed like it would be a fast birth. The child obviously couldn’t wait to see the world. So after another hour, with a swearing Lorelai, a Lorelai who cried for Donna Reed, which confused Luke slightly, but then he realized that it would be weirder, if she would cry for her own mother, he could hear Dr. Sutherland say,[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“I can see the head.”[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]And a few moments later, “Congratulations, you guys. It’s a girl.”[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]The nurses wrapped the small human being into towels and laid the little girl into Lorelai’s arms. As Luke saw the two of them, he was close to tears. Only a week ago, he thought that he’d never see his wife again and now, he was looking at her caring face and she held her daughter – their daughter in her hands.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]The girl had dark brown hair, Lorelai’s nose and blue eyes, heavenly blue eyes, Luke thought.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“What are you smiling at?” [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Lorelai’s voice diverted his thoughts. “Don’t you wanna hold her?”[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Course, I do,” he said and carefully took her.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]He sat down on Lorelai’s bed and felt himself immediately fall in love with her. [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Isn’t she just beautiful?” he asked.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Yeah, you’re right.”[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]He didn’t know how long he had been sitting there, looking at his daughter. Nothing was important anymore. It was just him, Lorelai and the baby. There was no Seattle, no hospital, no cancer. Just joy and happiness. [/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]“So, any thoughts about the name?” he heard Lorelai’s voice.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Mhm, I don’t know. What’s your favorite?” he asked.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Yeah, well, the first name is Lorelai. That’s clear… oh no, you can’t say no to me, Luke,” she pouted as she saw the startled look on her husband’s face.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Okay, okay,” he sighed. “I can’t compete with you anyway. Lorelai it is.”
“Great.”[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]She sat up and kissed him. As their lips touched, Luke’s stomach felt all weird. It was their first kiss in eight months. And right at that moment, Luke could feel that he would love her forever, if she might die the next day or in 80 years. He still would love her. [/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]“It’s your pick,” Lorelai said, when they finally broke apart, smiling.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“What?”[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“The second name. Her name.”[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Oh, okay. How about Judy? My mom’s name was Judith…” Luke suggested.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“I think that’s a wonderful idea, honey,” Lorelai answered and kissed again.[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]“You know, we should call Rory. She’s probably back at Yale by now.”[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]A few moments passed in silence, while Luke was dialing Rory’s number, then he said,[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Hey Rory, it’s me… No, we’re fine, great actually. D’you mind, if I introduce you to someone? This is Lorelai Judy Gilmore-Danes.”
He turned the cell-phone to little Judy’s face and the girl immediately began to cry. Luke could hear Rory laugh on the other end.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Well, after all, she’s Mom’s kid. She clearly has her genes.”[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“Yeah, I guess so.”[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Lorelai and Luke, too, laughed now, while they tried to console their baby.
Luke looked at Lorelai and saw his feelings mirrored in her face. He was just thankful to see the love of his life again, exited about their child and happy that the three of them were finally a unit. [/FONT]
