They walked around town for a little while, Luke pointing things out and Lorelai either listening to him intently or pestering him with questions to which he replied willingly. They started walking along a street, Lorelai talking a mile a minute about her childhood, how she grew up as an only child with her parents not being there for her and how she was eventually happy with the situation as he stopped abruptly.
âHm? Whatâs the matter?â âThatâs where I grew upâ He squinted into the sun uncomfortably âHey, do you need sunglasses? Cause I think Iâve got some spare ones in here somewhereâ she rummaged around her huge Fendi bag and finally pulled out some black Ray-Bans. âShould I ask why youâve got menâs sunglasses in there?â She shrugged âI thought they would go well with my boyish kind of look â which I abandoned the second I saw myself in the mirror â and theyâve been in there ever since. You can keep them, they look really good on youâ He shuffled his feet, at a loss of words âUh.... thanksâ
âSo this is where you grew up, huh? Itâs nice!â âMy parents still live in there, but they wonât be home this time of day, maybe weâll run into them laterâ âOooooh yay, Iâd love to meet your parents, I wonder if the flannel runs in the familyâ she mocked him but he didnât mind, at all. âIâll let this one go, just âcause itâs you, but I do not tolerate mocking about my choice of attireâ âWow, I feel specialâ she giggled âThatâs because you areâ¦â he muttered, more to himself âExcuse me? What did you just say? I didnât catch thatâ
Did I hear correctly? Did he just say Iâm special? Nah, Iâm fantasizing again *sigh*
âNevermind, look, thereâs Babetteâs place, I told you about her on the town square, if you have Babette and Miss Patty, you donât need a newspaper to know whatâs going on in Stars Hollow.â âHey, that house is really prettyâ âWhich one, Babetteâs?â she shook her head and sent her curls flying âNo, the one right next to herâs, I loooove itâ âYou do?â This time she nodded vigorously âYes I doâ âYou love it?â âWanna marry it!â âYou have strange passionsâ¦.â He grinned at her âI like washing dishes too, Iâm multi-facetted-abnormal! Come on, blue boy, letâs goâ she tugged at his hand and they walked further down the street.
