Episode 7.07 - Go Bulldogs!

Scene 6 - Dragonfly Inn - A warm, friendly farmer enters through the service entrance carrying a crate of vegetables. He says hi and startles Sookie. He introduces himself as Harold Burton and says he just took over Tillman farm. Sookie congratulates him and says it's a beautiful property. He says this is his first crop and he's offering free samples to all the local restaurants. Sookie says she's already got a supplier. Harold still offers her what he's brought and says it's on the house. If she likes it and wants to pass his name along to anyone he's appreciate it. He says it was good to meet her and then exits. Sookie looks into the crate and picks up a couple of vegetables. She gives them a squeeze and a sniff and has a wow reaction.
Scene 7 - Day 2 - Public Pool - Luke enters the pool area. Swimming class has ended and most of the girls are out of the pool and in the locker room. COACH BENNETT, an atractive, athletic, energetic woman calls to a couple of kids to stop running. The coach spots Luke and says hi. Luke introduces himself and she knows he's April's dad, she talks about him a lot. The coach says her name is Susan and they shake hands. Susan tells Luke that April is in teh locker room and should be right out. April's doing great and one of their most enthusiastic swimmers, she has good natural technique. Susan asks if that came from Luke and he tells her no, he doesn't even really know how to swim. Susan turns serious and says that's not good and he needs to be certified 'cause even the best swimmers get into trouble and it's important for the safety of April and any other children in his care that he be a sound swimmer. Susan tells him she teaches an adult swim class that's just started so if he comes this Saturday he won't have missed much. Luke says he doesn't know, but Coach Susan says it's not something he should wait on. April comes over and she and Luke talk with the coach for a minute.
ACT TWO
Scene 8 - Day 3 - Yale Campus - (blacked out description and dialogue) The parents in front of Lorelai and Christopher are finished and head off as a SMILEY STUDENT waves goodbye and shouts "Go Bulldogs!" Lorelai shoots Chris a look and then asks the volunteer if they really goes to Yale or if she's a hired actress. The smiley student says she goes there. Lorelai says she almost believes her. Christopher says they're ROry's parents and the student welcomes them to Parents' Weekend. She gives them a packet with a map, a schedule of events and nametags. Lorelai accepts a nametag and says "Go Bulldogs!" before the student can. She tells them to have fun.
Scene 9 - "They head off"
Scene 10 - Day 3 - Public Pool - Five adults are standing up to their waist in the poll, putting their heads under water and blowing bubbles. The last adult is Luke. Coach Susan leads the class. She tells Luke to try not to take such shallow breaths. He continues to blow as she stands right next to him. Luke tenses up as the coach places one hand on his back and the other on his stomach. She tells him to breathe from his diaphragm. Luke wasn't comfortable to begin with and is now much more uncomfortable with the sudden intimacy between himself and the coach. The first man in the line, RONALD, calls over that he needs hlep with getting deep breaths, but the coach dismisses him. Coach Susan checks her watch and tells the class that that's it and they did good work. They get out of the pool. As Luke towels off, Susan talks to him. She says he caught right up and she'll have him swimming like a fish in no time. Luke heads to the locker room when Susan asks if he eats. She's thinking he could call her sometime and they could get something. Luke says sure, but it's not something he was prepared for at all or thinking about. She gives him a contact sheet with her number at the top.
Scene 11 - Day 3 - Yale Dining Hall - The hall is decorated for a parent's brunch. Lorelai and Christopher are in the buffet line and then head over to the coffee table. LEW MORTON, a Yale dad, is pouring coffee into a cup. Seeing them approach, he extends a cup. He pours them each a cup and then introduces him self (pointing to his name tag). He's the father of Ethan. Christopher introduces himself and Lorelai and says they're Rory's parents. He knows she's a senior and Lorelai asks if he memorized the student facebook. Lew says his son is an aspiring hournalist and a big fan of Rory's. Lorelai loves that Rory has fans. Lew's wife DAISY approaches. Lew tells Lorelai and Chris that they should set up a lunch or something so Rory can meet Ethan. Daisy apologizes for her husband and says that Lew forgets that Ethan is already in Yale and doesn't need his booster club anymore. Lorelai introduces herself and Chris. Daisy asks where Lorelai got her bagel and Lorelai takes her over to the table, leaving the guys. Daisy tells Lorelai about some article Ethan wrote and offers to e-mail it to Lorelai promptly changes the subject.
Christopher and Lew continue to talk. Lew says he's sorry if he was pushy. Chris says it's ok, he's a proud dad. Lew says they should be proud, their kids did good. Lew says it's just hard to let go after all of the years of looking over their homework and reading their papers, practicing their lines with them and taking them to lessons and prep courses. Christopher looks uncomfortable. This isn't what his experience as a father has been like. He does his best to cover his insecurity. Another dad, JAKE HUBER, overhears and chimes in with a comment about 5 am hockey practice. Lew: "Science projects!" Jake says he helped his son build a wave generator one year that cost him $3200 when it exploded. Lorelai and Daisy return with plates of Bagels. Jake says she sells shoes, what does he know about wave generators. Jake introduces himself. Christopher starts to reply when Jake reads that he's Rory's dad and says he was just talking to Chris' wife. Christopher looks at Lorelai who says she's not his wife, actually. Jake says he didn't say she was, he was talking about Chris' wife, Mrs. Gilmore who is over by the mimosas. Lorelai looks across the room and sees Emily talking with a group of parents. Lorelai says she's going to go say hi to Mrs. Gilmore and leaves. The dads keep talking.
Lew asks what lectures they're going to hit. Jake says he wouldn't mind hearing the talk about TOlstoy. Lew asks who is doing that one. Christopher says it's Professor Alexandrov he thinks. He's trying to hold his own with these dads.

Scene 19 - Night 3 - The Eager Vegan - A hostess shows Luke and Coach Susan to their table. Susan sits down and Luke goes to sit across from her, but she tells him to sit next to her. It's cozier and she hates being so far away. Luke reluctantly joins her and they open their menus. Luke says wow in a "yikes" tone as he looks at the menu. Susan says this is her favorite restaurant and Luke said he eats healthy. Luke says he's never eaten this healthy before and concludes that vegan doesn't just mean vegetarian. "Just soy everything" Susan wants to ask Luke a question: who would play him in "The Luke Danes Movie". Luke says he's never really thought about. Susan says to take his time, but he's stumped. Susan asks if he wants to know hers. It's Bonne Bedelia. Luke doesn't know who that is. Susan says sure he does. Luke says no, he doesn't. Susan insists that he does and tells him to think. She finally tells him that it's Bruce Willis' wife in Die Hard. Luke has a vague memory. She tells him that people are always mistaking her for Bonnie Bedelia. Susan goes on to talk about her ex and how he used to always call her Mrs. McClane. She lived with him for 4 months but then he got psycho. She swore she wasn't going to date any more single dads, but... here she is. Luke hooked her. She says third time's the charm. The WAITRESS arrives and asks if anybody wants a drink. Luke says yes, please and the scene ends.
