English Chatcorner II

Hi everyone!

At the moment I have to read 14 books for my exams in May. But most of them are just "Reclam"-books. So they are not really hard to read. Anyway one of them is "Faust I" from Goethe. Did somebody read that one? I already read "Iphigenie auf Tauris" and "Die Leiden des jungen Werthers" from Goethe. They are from different eras. It was kind of interesting to see the differences betweend this eras on basis of one author.

A few weeks ago I read "A long way down" from Nick Hornby. That is some book Big Grin ! Some thoughts are very fascinating. At the beginning Maureen says: All our life we are working to get to Paradise. But if we kill ourselves so we are faster in Paradise, then we get straight to hell. Did someone here read it too? Because it is really well written and interesting. But sometimes Jess got really on my nervs.

What are you reading at the moment?

Sometime I take a carton of eggs out of the fridge an look at it and think
that maybe one day I'll crack an egg and a little baby chicken will fall out and I'll wash him of and rais him indoors and then...
I'll have a friend.

I started reading "Faust" about a year ago but after awhile I dropped it because I didn't like the book... maybe I should read it again ^^

Right now I'm reading "Confessions of a Shopaholic" because I watched the movie a few weeks ago in the Sneak Preview in our cinema and I like the book. I'm not finished yet but it's great. It's a little bit different from the movie but most movies that are made from books are different, aren't they?

Hello? hello? Anybody out there? ....

I'm so overstrained right now, horrible. I'm just waiting for the holidays and to leave Austria behind and travel to the sea, enjoy the sun and life without fear for (only) three weeks. But, God, I need this three weeks so badly. My brain feels like mush.

Well, but right now it's tooooooooooooooo much. Too much. And the weather sucks. Rain, wind and it's cold. Too cold for me.

Gah. And I need to see my boyfriend. It's not very adjuvant to see him only one or two days a month.

So actually I'm waiting for him.

=(

!...!

That sounds bad. *give you a hug*

Where will you spend the holidays? Sea sounds good. Smile

=D Thanks!

I'm going to be in Portoroz/Piran, Slovenia.

Are you going to travel somewhere?

!...!

Oh, interesting. I´ve never been in Slovenia. Have you?
So you´ll have a nice beach there?

No - no money. Sad
But I´m living in a nice little town near the Baltic Sea. Many tourists pay to be here and travel a long distance. I live here, and I like it very much. Smile So it´s okay.

Yes, I'm there nearly every summer. And yes, there is a very beautiful beach =)
Portoroz is not very beautiful, a very touristic village, but Piran is so beautiful, maybe you can visit it one day =)
In Portoroz is a sandy beach, but I prefer the beach in Piran, it's not really a beach more like a "boardwalk" and the water is cleaner and the seabed is visible, not like the seabed in Portoroz. The water in Portoroz is darker, 'cause of all the water plants, and they do not exist in Piran^^

Well so you have your own holiday at home =) and if you like it there it's good to stay at home.
And it sounds good =)

I live in Salzburg and it's horrible in summer. Hot, cold, hot, no sea, the "Festspiele", too many people and so on XD

!...!

Zitieren

Oh, yes, the Festspiele. I suppose, it´s crwowded there anyway all through the year, because of that status of Mozart-Town, isn´t it?
I´ve never been to Salzburg, just to Vienna. That was on May 2 years ago, and it was hot all over even then. But I like Vienna, I like Austria. Smile
Even though there is only the Danube and no sea near. WinkBig Grin

How comes you go there so often? Do you have roots there?

Yeah, that's true. In winter "we" have mostly russian tourists, but they can't be compared to the japanese, british and us-american tourists, those tourists are woaaah -.-^^
They are standing everywhere and look at everything and they are not very interested in the "real" city. Just those famous places, all places Mozart lived at and so on and all places of "The Sound of Music"...^^

Vienna is great =)

No, no roots in Slovenia, friends have a house there and we can live there in summer =) so it's much cheaper than a "normal" holiday.

And we're always visiting Triest. It's an amazing city Smile do you know Triest?

!...!

We have those tourists here, too. Rolleyes They look into the windows of our ancient part of the city, they even walk into the gardens of the house owners - as if everything is a museum. Mad

Yeah, it´s great. Smile

Oh, I see. That´s nice to have. I wish I had a house by the Atlantic Ocean. Dreaming... Wink

No, only by name. But if you would ask me to find it on a map, well... ooh... :o
