Uncle Finn
The next morning Rory woke up from a knock on the door and the delicious smell of coffee, which filled the room moments later. She kept her eyes closed till Finn sat down on the bed and held a cup in front of her.
âMorning!â she said cheery and snagged the coffee out of his hands.
âIn my world it could be considered morning, yeahâ he smiled.
âWhat time is it?â she asked surprised. It had to be late, when he said something like that.
âTwo in the afternoon, love!â he grinned, but was serious again a moment later, âHow are you feeling?â
âIâm fine. I told you it was stupid!â
âAnd I told you it wasnât. But letâs move on, now. What do you want to do with the rest of the day?â he asked. Rory knew he was still thinking about last night, though. She was about to answer, when his phone rang.
âHello?â he answered it. Seconds later a smile spread across his face.
âYouâre here? ⦠Of course! ⦠No, Rory is here with me ⦠Sure, I would love that. Just let me ask, okay?â He looked back at his best friend.
âMy sisterâs in town, love. She would love to meet us, especially you. Do you want to go?â
âOf course I want to go! We can meet her after we ate breakfast â or lunch actually.â She agreed happily. Rory had never met Finnâs little sister personally, but she knew everything about her. Trisha was five years younger than him and had a daughter named Rosalie. Everyone just called the little girl Rosie. Rory had seen pictures of them, but they never met, because Trish lived in Paris with her husband. Meeting her now was an offer she happily agreed on.
Finn smiled at her and then turned back to the phone conversation to confirm the meeting. At the same time Rory got up and headed for the bathroom to shower. Finn watched her go. She was dressed in his shirt. It was way too big for her, but strangely it seemed to fit perfectly. He had always liked seeing her in his shirts. It had only been on rare occasions, that he saw her like that before her divorce. Since she moved out, she wore them nearly every night. A fact his selfish side was overjoyed with. Plus they might be way too big for her, they barely reached her knees. It was a very tempting sight. Groaning he put the now shut phone away and let himself fall back on the bed. He needed to stop thinking about her like that!
âUncle Finn!â the little girl called and ran towards them. He bent down and caught his three-year-old niece smiling.
âHey there, little girl! I missed you, do you know that?â Rosie nodded and hugged her uncle happily.
âMissed you too!â she agreed. Rory stood next to them and watched the scene smiling. She had never thought about Finn as a fatherly type, but now it seemed just natural. A smiling woman came to stand in front of them. She had blond hair and her eyes had the same deep green Finnâs had. Rory recognized her immediately, despite the fact that she had seen her only on the pictures in Finnâs bedroom. As Finn and Rosie seemed to be in their own little world, the two women smiled at each other.
âIâm Trishaâ Finnâs sister finally said, rolling her eyes at her daughter and brother. Rory smiled at that.
âI figured. Iâm Rory, itâs nice to meet you!â They shook hands when Finn and Rosie finally snapped out of their daze. Finn turned towards the two women and watched them for a moment, before he asked impatiently: âSo, what do we want to do now?â Both girls looked at him and then burst out laughing as they saw his expression.
Trisha smiled at her big brother as they watched Rosie play with Rory. The little girl, not known for being shy, had liked Rory immediately. After a while, Trish turned around and looked at Finn.
âSo, since when do you sleep with her?â she asked. Finn looked at her surprised.
âI donât. Sheâs my friend, nothing more.â Trisha rolled her eyes at that.
âI understand, if you donât want to tell mom and dad, Finn. But you can tell me, you know?â
âTrish, I do not sleep with her. We never did! And I donât think that will change in the future.â His sister looked away again, a smile gracing her lips.
âBut you want to, Finn. I can see it.â
âHer feelings are more important than mine.â He shrugged. He had always handled it that way, and he wouldnât change it. He looked at his little sister surprised, when she began to laugh.
âYouâre in love. And she isnât even a redhead! I always thought you would marry when youâre seventy and she would be a twenty-year-old, who only wants your money.â
âWhat does it matter, that she isnât a redhead?â he asked, not quite understanding.
âYou havenât looked at a girl without red hair and with a brain since you were fifteen Finn! Itâs funny!â
âWhatâs funny?â Rory asked, while she sat down at Finnâs lap. His arms came around her waist and she leaned back at his chest. Finn ignored the knowing look his sister shot him and answered: âNothing, kitten, nothing!â
Freu mich auf eure Meinungen!
