Midnight Express ist ein Film von Alan Parker aus dem Jahr 1978. Er basiert auf einem gleichnamigen Buch (1977), in dem Billy Hayes schildert, wie er die Zeit in einem türkischen Gefängnis erlebte, in das er gesteckt wurde, nachdem er versucht hat, Hashish aus der Türkei zu schmuggeln.

Damit meint Lore, nachdem sie in dem einen  Gefängnis übernachtet haben, könnten sie auch noch in dem anderen  schlafen. Sie findet also, Rory übertreibe.

Rory sucht also nach einer anderen Bezeichnung für Dean anstatt "boyfriend".

Blanche Dubois ist die Hauptfigur in dem später vermilmten Schauspiel  A Streetcar Named Desire und hat auf der Suche nach Freundlichkeit und Schutz, aber auch aufgrund  starken sexuellen Drangs viele Affären hinter sich.

Lane meint also, dass die Beziehung zwischen Dean und Rory etwas  Affärenartiges hat, da sie noch nicht über eine Feste Beziehung  gesprochen haben, also noch nicht in einer solchen sind.

Frederick „Fred“ Martin MacMurray (1908-1991) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, der in den 1930er-Jahren seinen Durchbruch hatte.

Zusammen spielten sie in dem Film-noir "Frau ohne Gewissen" (1944).
PLOT: MacMurray spielt einen Versicherungsvertreter (FUN-FACT: Richard arbeitet auch in der Versicherungsbranche), der sich von einer Kundin (Stanwyck) zu einer Mord-/Versicherungsbetrugstat überreden lässt: sie will ihren Mann umbringen lassen, für den sie vorher eine Unfallversicherung  abgschlossen hat.

Emily hat eine ähnliche Stimme wie Barbara Stanwyck. Mit so einer Stimme hätte sie laut Lore ebenfalls Erfolg damit gehabt, MacMurray dazu zu überreden, ihren Mann (Richard) umlegen zu lassen.
