Rotrock (englisch Red Coat) ist eine umgangssprachl. Bezeichnung für Angehörige der britischen Armee; im amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg wurde diese oft abwertend benutzt. Der Amerikanische Unabhängigkeitskrieg ( 1775 - 1783) entspann sich zwischen den dreizehn britischen Kolonien in Amerika und der britischen Kolonialmacht. Die Kolonien hatten begonnen, ein Verständnis für eine eigene Bevölkerungsgruppe zu bekommen (ergo Amerikaner) und wollten sich der Macht und Kontolle der Briten entziehen. So kam es zum Krieg. 1776 wurde die Unabhängigkeitserklärung unterschrieben, 1777 erfolgte die Bildung der Konföderation; daraus gingen dann die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika hervor.
USSR: Sowjetunion; 1945 bis 1985 kalter krieg gegen USA
Der Bürgermeister redet über Stars Hollows Rolle im amerikanischen unabhängigkeitskrieg; sie spielen jedes jahr die sezene nach, in der revolutionäre auf die Britischen Truppen gewartet haben, um diese zu bekämpfen.
Da Luke die recht unpatriotische Meinung äußert, der Krieg wäre unnötig gewesen, da durch ihn die Indianer ihr Land verloren haben und beklaut wurden, weißt der Bürgermeister ihn zurecht und meint, wnen es ihm in Amerika nicht gefalle, dann könne er ja in die USSR (die dato nciht mehr existierte).

Stamford ist eine Stadt im Fairfield County im US-Bundesstaat Connecticut mit 122.643 Einwohnern.

Max korrigiert gerade einen Aufsatz über Dickinson und denkt jedes Mal, wenn er auf dem Weg zu einem Abendkurs am College in Stamford an Stars Hollow vorbeifährt, an Lorelai.

Hunter S.Thompson (1937 -2005) war ein US-amerikanischer Schriftsteller und Journalist, der besonders für seine Reportagen bekannt war.
Charlotte Brontë ( 1816 -1855) war eine britische Schriftstellerin. Sie veröffentlichte ihre Romane unter dem Pseudonym Currer Bell.

Lore spielt damit auf Emilys Verschiedene Wohltätigkeitsaktivitäten an & meint, Rory solle Emily sagen, sie würde kein mitglied der Junior League oder sonst einem Verein werden. Lore würde es besser finden, wenn sie wieder so heimkommt, wie sie gegangen ist

LUKE: I didn't get the Hallmark card for that one.

Luke meint damit, für DIESE Art von tradition, dass in der Stadt der Jahrestag der legendären Schlacht von Stars Hollow gefeiert wird, habe er keine.

LUKE: Your parents never explained the concept of weather to you?
LORELAI: I am making a point, Mouthy McGee. Of course, many years later, I realized that logically, the snow was not there for me personally. But, still, when it snows, something inside me says, 'hey, that's your present.' I don't think it'll ever change.
Mouthy = großmäulig; "Mc" ist gebräuchlich für Nachnamen, bedeutet aber eigentlich gar nichts.
Lore meint damit also so etwas wie :"Klappe, Mister!"

Das Bellevue Hospital Center, oder auch Bellevue genannt, ist das älteste öffentliche Krankenhaus der USA. Das Bellevue Hospital ist für seine Psychiatrie und die betriebsame Notaufnahme bekannt.
Lorelai meint, sie und Max wären wie ein Paar, das sich in Bellevue gefunden hat. (beide verrückt)

Mom's become a major doctoring genius. She'll put anything on it. One time Sookie came and brought us some foie gras, and Mom stuck it on a pizza.

Errol Flynn (* 1909-1959 ) war ein australisch-US-amerikanischer Filmschauspieler. I
Bekannt machten ihn in den 1930er und 1940er Jahren seine Rollen Abenteuerheld in Klassikern wie "Unter der Piratenflagge" oder "Robin Hood" .
Das pirate guy bezieht sich auf Erol Flynns Rollen. Richard bezieht sich auf seine romatischen Rollen. Rory baut den Witz ein und bezieht sich auf seine Piratenrollen.

The Cure ist eine britische Pop-/Rock-/Wave-/Gothic-Band, die 1976 im südenglischen Crawley als Malice gegründet wurde. Bekannt für traurige melodien und lyrics.

Judy Blume ist eine Autorin, deren Kinder und junge Erwachsenen Bücher rund um moralische und manchmal streitige Themen zentriert werden. Es geht oft um Teenagerthemen.
Aufgrund von Lanes Teeniedrama (sie hat dem Jungen, den sie mag, ungefragt durch die haare gefahren) bezeichnet Lore die Situaton als Judy-Blume-Moment.

Aufgrund der Wirkung auf Katzen wird getrocknete Katzenminze (Catnip) manchem Katzenspielzeug beigegeben. Sie werden dann ganz wild darauf.
Der Schnee wirkt auf Lore wie Katzenminze auf Katzen und sie dreht total ab.
