"Written in the Stars" is a single released in 1999 by Elton John and LeAnn Rimes. In the US, it was certified Gold on 27 April 1999 by the RIAA. This song came from the musical Aida written by Elton John. In this scene in the musical, Radames informs Aida that he's calling off the wedding. Aida knows that this would ruin her father's escape and tells him he must go through with it. Radames agrees, on condition that she escapes to freedom on a boat he will provide. The two lovers lament the complication of the circumstances of their love together before parting. Due to Rimes' previous country music success, this song made #74 on Canada's RPM country chart due to unsolicited airplay as an album cut. There are two different recordings of the song, one with Rimes performing the first verse, the other with John. The song was later featured on Rimes' 2002 album I Need You and the concept album for the musical. The song was performed live at VH1 Divas Live 1999.

Mai stattfinden, doch kurz vor der Vermählung erfährt der Herzog, dass Hermia nicht Demetrius heiraten will sondern mit Lysander zusammen sein möchte. Theseus befielt dennoch, dass Hermia Demetrius heiraten muss, da ihr ansonsten der Tod oder ewige Keuschheit drohe. Lysander und Hermia beschließen daraufhin sich des Nachts im Wald zu treffen um aus Athen zu fliehen und zusammen ein neues Leben zu beginnen. Helena erfährt von diesem Plan und beschließt Demetrius davon zu erzählen, um sich bei ihm einzuschmeicheln. Dieser will ebenfalls im Wald erscheinen um Hermia an ihrem Vorhaben zu hindern.
Doch auch Oberon, der König der Elfen und Titania, seine Gattin, treffen sich in dieser Nacht in diesem Wald. Oberon will Titania einen Streich spielen und lässt seinem Diener, dem Droll, Titania einen Zaubersaft in die Augen tröpfeln. Dies soll bewirken, dass sie sich in das erste Wesen, das sie erblickt, unsterblich verliebt. Dies ist einer der hässlichen Rüpel, die für ein Theaterstück proben, welches zur Hochzeit von Theseus und Hippolyta aufgeführt werden soll.
Oberon will auch Demetrius denselben Saft in die Augen tröpfeln lassen, so dass er sich in Helena verliebt und jedes Paar seinen eigenen Weg gehen kann. Der Droll verwechselt Demetrius jedoch mit Lysander, der sich dann in Helena verliebt und von Hermia nichts mehr wissen will. Der König der Elfen bemerkt den Fehler und kann glücklicherweise alles rückgängig machen: Demetrius verliebt sich in Helena und auch er und seine Gattin versöhnen sich.
Am nächsten Tag treffen Theseus, Hippolyta und Hermias Vater auf die Liebespaarer und wundern sich darüber, wie das alles zustande kam. Letztendlich findet eine dreifache Hochzeit noch am selben Tag statt
