Zitat: There will probably be the original proposal in the "previously" segment. This episode starts with Luke saying "What" with his semi-shocked face. Lorelai starts to repeat herself: "Luke, will you.." when Luke jumps in with a strong "Yes."
Lorelai: Well you don't have to answer so-
Luke: Yes.
Lorelai: Well you can take a minute to-
Luke: No
Luke has a slight grin on his face when he says no and Lorelai looks a little shocked but then grins.
Lorelai: So..what..now?
Luke: I don't know, this is new for me
Lorelai: Well we should do something official
Luke: Official
Something to commemorate the moment. Lorelai starts to stand up (we're watching from the side as they face each other) and says "I mean, we're getting married, Luke. Married. You and me. Luke - table for one - Danes and Lorelai - I'm sorry can I get an industrial size forklift for my emotional baggage - Gilmore are getting *breath* married" They're both just standing there kinda shocked and awkward. Luke thinks then says they coyuld toast. Lorelai says that's good and asks what they can toast with. Luke goes to the back to look for something, but he's got nothing. Lorelai says the grapefruti juice doesn't sound festive, they need something sparkly.
Lorelai says "come on" and grabs his arm to leave the diner and get something. They have the "funkytown" convo we had in the sides. Lorelai worries that he's changed his mind. Luke just wants to make sure she's sure since a minute ago she was upset. Lorelai just wants to be happy (though she doesn't look all that happy when saying that). Luke replies with "okay" in a tone and with a face that I can't figure out how to describe. You just have to see it. It's cute. They head out the door and Luke asks where they're going.
Taylor and Kirk are yelling at/taking care of the bikers, respectively. Taylor declares the race over and tells Maggie (formerly Linda) to start breaking the tables down. He throws the trophies at bikers who say they were the winners. The camera pans around Taylor and we see Lorelai and Luke at the door to Doosie's market. Taylor yells that they're closed. Then we're by the door with Luke and Lorelai as Taylor comes over. Lorelai says she hates small town hours and once they're married they have to move. Taylor wants to know what they're doing. Lorelai explains that they need to get in and Taylor is the first to know that she and Luke are engaged. As Lorelai is talking Luke puts his hand on her shoulder and rubs her back awhile looking on happily.
Taylor says he thought there was a better chance of all the Beatles getting together than her and Luke settling down enough to get engaged. He lets them inside the store to get something alcoholic. Mentioning that if Lorelai thinks she needs to be drunk to be with him... heh. Luke tells him to open the door. The champagne is cheap. Lorelai doesn't want it. Asks if Luke has found anything, but there's nothin. Lorelai says he has to have something. He tells her he's got a case of Zima in the back. Lorelai bounces excitedly "Luuuke, he's got Zima in the back. he's got Zima in the back." Luke says men don't drink Zima. Lorelai tells him to pay the man and he does. Taylor generously knocks off the tax seeing as they just got engaged.
Lorelai practically skips to the gazebo, Luke along carrying the Zima. Taylor is yelling at people about tables. Lorelai says she knows the perfect toasting place. Luke asks if it's far. Lorelai says one of them is not getting into the romantic spirit. "Yeah, the one with a case of chick beer under his arm". They get to the gazebo where some bikers are stretching and hanging out. Lorelai shoos them away and she and Luke go up to the center. Luke breaks out two of the bottles and gives her one. They're about to toast "to us" when all teh lights go out. Lorelai yells "Taylor!" and he explains that the light guys go into the golden hour in 5 minutes. Luke tells him to turn the lights back on. The lights come back.
Lorelai: Ok, I believe we were right about *clink* there.
They drink. Luke puts his left arm around her waist and starts to pull her in.
Lorelai: Really? You;re going to kiss me now? That's so incredibly predictable.
Arms wrap around and they kiss as we pull out from the gazebo to the lalas.
In bed. Lorelai is laying on her side looking very sleepy. Luke is sitting up on the other side of the bed. She asks if the beds always been that comfortable. He says he thinks so. She says it feels so much more comfortable and they should drink Zima and have sex every single night. Luke says ok (Scott is wearing the wig, but it doesn't look horrible. The hair is long and he has those bangs things on the side like in 517. Oh, and Scott looks extra buff sitting there. Nice shoulders and pecs. Yum). Luke goes into a ramble about his "What about the kids" comment the other day and how he didn't mean they had to have kids, but they can, but doesn't want her to think he's laying down a mandate. But that one kid is fine or more if she wants more or they don't have to have kids, just get a plant. Lorelai asks "what" and he says nothing. Then he talks about buying the Twickham house and how it's big, but they dont' have to fill it up with kids, they can get furniture. Go shopping for a couch and end tables.
Luke: I hate shopping for furniture. For me kids are easier
Lorelai (sleepily): I love shopping
Luke: go to sleep
Lorelai: mmkay
Luke: Is this really happening
Lorelai: yes, it's really happening
She smiles and Luke finally lays down. All of a sudden Lorelai turns over and says "You bought a house without telling me?" Luke says "what" as she starts to sit up. She says a house is huge, and he says that's why he told her.
Lorelai: A house full of kids?
Luke: and a plant, don't forget about the plant
Lorelai tells him to please not do that. Please include her in on any other addresses or life changing events. He says he will, he is, he's sorry, he won't, he will. They settle back down with Luke saying he's sorry once more, then Lorelai opens her eyes and says kids would be good. Luke grins. (they're not facing each other. Both on their right sides)
Morning in the diner and Luke is uber cheery. Greeting people by name and filling coffee cups. (they did take out the toast line!). Babette and Patty come charging in looking for Luke. They both go to hug him. He just grins and goes to sit with them at the table. They are mad that they heard the news from someone else. They want to hear the whole play by play of the engagement. Before he replies they ask a bunch of questions about the ring. Luke says he's still working in the ring. They like the idea of the spontaneous proposal and Babette launches into her story of when Morey proposed. He finally tells them that Lorelai proposed to him. They look disappointed and don't hide it well. "oh, you went modern" Luke begins to get embarrassed. They say they're very happy for him and he gets up to go back to work. They can't believe Lorelai proposed. "Yeah, well thank God he's got a good ass"
The Troubadour is singing by the gazebo as Lorelai walks by and sees the Twickham house. She heads over and sees the real estate agent fixing the sign. Says the house is back on the market. THe agent says they had an offer but he backed out. "Toxic bachelore type" She gives Lorelai a flier and says the house is great for kids. "Oh please, not you too"
Lorelai's phone rings and she walks away. It's Richard. He seems perfectly happy. Is telling Lorelai about the lawyer, Charlie, and that he's coming over. Lorelai is very curt and not interested. Richard starts to get angry that she doesn't seem to care and wants to know if she's coming. Lorelai says no and it sounds like they have everything under control. "Fine, I'll talk to you later!" THey hang up, Richard slamming down the phone.
8:30 am. Emily bursts into Rory's bedroom in the pool house and wakes her up. She starts opening the windows and talking about decorating the room. The maid pulls the pillows out from under ROry's head. She gets up. Emily sends the maid to draw her a bath. Emiyl says there's a pot of coffee in the next room. They head to the main room, there's food all over the counter. Rory says "wow" and asks how she did all this. Emily says it's amazing what you can do before 8:30 in the morning. Emily gives Rory keys to the poolhouse, the main house and the garage. As well as the codes to teh security system and the code for the pani room, still 11111. She whispers it and says not to write it down or say it because the maids will tell their children who will grow up and come to rob them. Emily asks if that's all of her things and Rory says she has a lot more...at mom's. Rory asks how it went last night. Was Lorelai mad? "I mean, of course she was mad, but was it a bad mad?" Emily says she was upset but she's so dramatic.
Richard calls on the intercom asking if Rory's up yet, Charlie is there. Emily leads Rory back to the room to get in the bath and get ready. In Richard's study, Richard and Charlie are talking and sharing stories. Rory looks positively bored. They finally get around to Rory's case. She jsut wants to know what is going to happen. Charlie says that's an excellent question, He says he'll have a face to face with the prosecuter and they'll work out a plea bargain. He makes it all sound easy and says she'll just get a few hours of community service. Charlie gets up to leave. Rory says she'll never need his help again. She walks out and the men comment on what a charming girl she is.
Rory goes back to the poolhouse and looks confused. We hear "ba ba ba"s. All of the furniture is gone except for the TV on a table and a few chairs covered in fabric swatches. They all have large signs on them that say "sit here". Rory goes and sits on one of the chairs.
Later, Paris calls for Rory, she's in the bedroom. Paris comes in and asks if she lives here and asks if she's worried she's going to sleep walk into the pool. Rory says she is now. Paris asks if the stuffs in the closet. Rory tells her to go to town. Paris has been meeting Doyle's family and needs something new to wear. He has a million cousins and is the tallest of the whole family. "Famiyl get together is like a lolipop guild convention". Paris has a matter to discuss with Rory. She and Doyle are movnig into a duplex and she wants Rory to move in with them. Rory says it's a nice offer, but she's not going back to school. Paris - "You're pregnant". Rory replies no, and Paris goes on to say she's sick, she looks pasty. Rory explains taht she's fine and is just taking some time off. Paris doesn't like that answer, Rory asks if she's done 'cause she has to finish getting ready (she was putting on her little jacket when Paris came in) Rory walks through the living area towards the kitchen, Paris following her asking what happened. Rory says nothing happened and she's a grown-up, independent, on her own as she pours herself a cup of coffee. Paris remarks on not having furniture and Rory says she's redecorating. Paris says sure, she knows what this is about. Rory tells her to take what she needs and go. Logan comes into the poolhouse, says sorry he's late and gives Rory a kiss on the cheek. He says hello to Paris who is giving him the evil eye. She scowls as she passes to leave and says "You!" Logan remarks that vacation is coming at just the right time for her. Rory and Logan go to leave as Logan asks if she got robbed. Hee.
In the diner, Luke is fighting with the cash register. Joe at the counter says he should get a new one. Luke says it's called character and items like this that give a place character. Kirk comes in with a case. Luke tells him he'll be with him in a minute. Kirk says he's not there for food. He's there on business. He hears Luke might be in the market for a ring , or should be be talking to Lorelai. Luke tells him to go away. Kirk goes into his spiel of having a great collection and asks if he should be talking to Lorelai. Luek says he'll take care of finding a ring. He walks over and sees the case full of rings. One catches his eye and he sits down and pickes it up. He says it looks like Lorelai. Kirk agrees. Luke asks if they're real "real diamonds, not that they exist". He asks where Kirk got all of these. Kirk says he befriends really old women. And if you listen to their stories and care about their dosage, they are grateful. Luke says he's got some great choices. Kirks says he has sympathy for Luke's situation, Lorelai stealing the proposal moment. Kirk says it's gotta hurt. Luke says he's fine and will have his moment, Kirk has been avoiding Lulu in fear of her proposing to him like Lorelai did. He doesn't want to be robbed of his moment. Luke picks the ring formerly owned by widow Mason.
Logan and Rory are walking towards Richman's Show Bar & Grill. Rory asks if a drink, dinner and movie is really waht they're doing that night. Logan says he's tired and he just wants a mellow evening with his girlfriend. Rory says the last time he was mellow he had a 104 degree fever and tehy still went bar hopping for an hour before he fainted. "Men don't faint, men pass out." He says they're just doing drinks and dinner and gives her a kiss... The doors to the bar open and there's a huge crowd of people dressed in old time prisoner costuming singing "For she's a jolly good felon" Rory looks surprised, then pleased and smiles at Logan. He helps conduct the rest of the song then they hug and he laughs as he says "after the party that is" Finn kisses Rory on the cheek as she enters and someone throws a hat on her.
Luke is sitting on the chair in Lorelai's living room looking at a magazine with his feet up on the ottoman (he looks exceptionally hot in this scene. Wearing grey dress pants and a blue dress shirt which is unbuttoned nicely. He's got the long hair wig, but it really doesn't look that bad.). He asks how much longer, Lorelai replies from upstairs that there's a purse-shoe incident that is affecting the ensemble. She says it's technical and he wouldn't understand. Luke says he doesn't want to understand, he wants to leave. He's starving. Lorelai tells him to watch tv. He asks how that is a response to him starving. There's a knock on the door and she tells Luke to get it, that'll be fun for him. He says he's not bored because he's 6, he's bored because she told him to pick her up at 7 and it's 8:30.
It's Paris at the door. She asks who Luke is as she comes in. He tries to tell her, but she doesn't give him a chance and calls for Lorelai. She asks again who he is, but Luke doesn't get to respond as Lorelai comes downstairs. Lorelai asks what she's doing there. Paris asks if it's a bad time. Lorelai says no and asks if she's met Luke. Paris says no, so Lorelai says that's Luke, but Paris interrupts before he can finish saying it's nice to meet her and blurts out that Rory is quitting Yale. Lorelai says she knows. Paris says it's Logan, he's the reason she's blue lagooning it out of school. Paris goes on to say that Lorelai has to do something, use her mom powers to get Rory to go back. Luke stands off to the side and says he agrees. Lorelai gives him a look. Paris goes into her own kidnapping plan, Luke says yes and that it was his suggestion first when Lorelai says "Luke" in a "stop it" tone. Paris and Lorelai go sit on the couch. Paris says that Rory is her only competition and her only friend, her pace car, and she needs her back at Yale or she'll become her mother. Lorelai says Paris can be anything she wants, except a diplomat, and will be fine. Lorelai says she knows she's not Rory, but if Paris ever needs something she can call her and gives her her cell phone number. Paris says she's going to hold her to that. Paris leaves, saying bye to Luke, but he again doesn't have time to respond. Lorelai says that concludes the floor show part of the evening and she'll get her purse so they can go. Lorelai walks to the kitchen with Luke behind her. He asks what she's going to do. She says nothing and wants to go. He says they haven't talked about this. Lorelai says it was Rory's choice. Luke says she's a kid. Lorelai counters that she's 20, going to be 21 in October and can has been living on her own for 2 years. She can make her own mistakes, she made bigger ones when she was younger. Luke asks if she's ok with it. Lorelai says she is. He doesn't look convinced, but they head out to dinner. Luke asks if she gave Paris her real cell number.
Back at the bar. Logan and Rory are sitting at the bar with Finn, Colin, and I think those 2 girls from the Chinese Restaurant around them. Talking about Finn and Colin's various adventures in slacking. Taking off on trip instead of going to school, etc. They're having a "loser-off". They insist Logan is the king of sloth. He looks like he doesn't want the title. Rory says she might give him a run for his money. "All hail Rory Gilmore, future queen of the sloths". The girls go off to the bathroom and the guys take off. Logan and Rory are still at the bar. Rory wonders what beer tastes like with ice cream in it. Logan says he gives her a month before she's back in schoo. She tells him he's wrong and can't believe how little faith he has in her and what kind of match would she be for him if she went on with a respectable life without once tryig to joing the French Legion. He says she loves school, he's seen it. She says he'll see and it's the new her. They are kissing when the girls come back and drag Rory to the dance floor. Logan says to take her and ROry tells him to watch her seat and order her a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Dragonfly Inn, the sweaty biker is leaning on the check in desk. Michel looks annoyed. He asks if the biker can move his arm and once he does, Michel starts spraying and wiping hte desk. Lorelai comes over and asks about his bill. Says she'll put it in an envelope and sends hte biker to stand to teh side. She tells Michel to stop doing the spray thing. He rants about the sweaty smell that has taken over the Inn. He tells Lorelai that her mom called and is coming to her house to pick up Rory's things at 11. They get rid of the sweaty biker then proceed to throw away the magazine he touched and clean the wall where he leaned.
Emily knocks on Lorelai's door. Michel answers and lets her in. She looks confused and asks where Lorelai is. Michel says she's not there as he sits on the couch and starts reading W. He complains in his Michel way. Emily doesn't understand and asks if Lorelai got the message. Michel says she did and told him to come let her in. Emily is speechless. She goes to Rory's room and sees that Lorelai ddin't leave her anything or pack anything. she asks if Michel is going ot help, he says he's just supposed to sit there. Emily is offended that she needs a babysitter like she's a meth addict going to break in to steal a tv to support her habit. Emily yells that Rory needs something for court. Michel makes a remark and Emily says he's been working with Lorelai too long. "Dooon't I know it"
The court room. Emily is buttoning Rory's sweater and wondering if they made the right outfit choice. (Read the scene from the sides, oh and the prosecuter does look 12). Rory is looking around for Lorelai. Emily and Richard look shocked at the sentence, Richard starts to complain and yell. The judge says she can go to trial if they like. Rory doesn't want that to happen and accepts the punishment. She drags Richard away before he tries to kill Charlie, who doesn't see it as a big deal, and asks if Lorelai knew about the date and time of the court date. He says that Lorelai didn't seem interested. Richard is already picking a lawyer to use to sue Charlie. Charlie tells him to go to hell and they all leave the court room. Emily says he can't kill Charlie there, they're in a courthouse.
Lorelai comes home to find a note on the door from Emily. She rips it down and tears it in half. There are notes on the mirror, the answering machine, the water bottle, the fridge, the stuff in the fridge, etc. Lorelai rips them all down and throws them on the floor as Emily's message plays on the machine. Emily says she finally has something to say at her luncheons when the other women talk about how their daughters do this or that, "Oh really, well today my daugher invited me over and then didn't show up". Lorelai says outloud that she never invited her over. Emily says it's disgraceful behavior, even by her standards. And as she assumes that Lorelai has ripped up all of her notes she'll read them to her, she made copies. Lorelai goes into Rory's room and grabs a basket to fill with stuff as Emily reads her note: "Dear Lorelai, i was shocked and saddened by your decision not to be at home when I came for Rory's things..."
Lorelai bangs the door of Emily and Richard's bedroom open (and no, they weren't cuddling). They jump and Emily says Lorelai scared her half to death. Lorelai remarks that follow-through has always been her problem. Lorelai says she got all of Rory's stuff, even checked the dirty laundry to make sure nothing was there. Richard asks what she's doing coming at that time of the night. Lorelais says that mom seemed very concerned with getting Rory's things. Emily says to stop this and she knows she hates them. Lorelai saks why she should hate them. She says they were just being them. Insert scorpion/frog story. Points to herself and says Frog, then the elder Gilmores and says scorpion. Richard says to calm down, Lorelai says she's fine and that they must be jazzed. They finally have the daughter they always wanted. THe new and improved Lorelai. Richard says they were just trying to do the right thing and that they could use her help to help Rory get on the right track. Lorelai says her involvement ends tehre with the laundry basket. She's out. ROry is all theirs.
Luke is leaving the diner, Kirk begging him "Please Luke, please, please, please, please" . He wants the ring back because he thinks it's the one Lulu had her eye on. Luke says he overpaid for the ring and their business was done. Luke tries to leave. He tells Kirk to pick another ring. Babette yells from the center of town for Luke to wait then runs (that Sally Struthers is fast) all the way to the diner. Occassionally holding her chest to control bounce. Luke tells her he's not going anywhere and to just walk and slow down. She's out of breath and panicky when she gets to him. She says she smells toast. And almonds. She needs confirmation on the rumor of a rift between Lorelai and Rory. She asks if it's true and Luke says nothing. She takes that as confirmation. Luke tells her that there was an incident, but Lorelai has it under control and she's fine. Luke walks away. Kirk tells Babette "Nice ring"
Lorelai comes home once again. She drops the keys on the side table and walks to the kitchen to get a bottle of water. She goes into Rory's now pretty much empty room and turns off the light. She sits on the bench at the end of the bed and looks around, holding the water bottle with her fingertips between her legs. All of a sudden she throws the water bottle at the wall in front of her and sniffs. She looks up then starts to cry, covering her face with her hands. We hear the front door open and Lorelai looks up. Luke yells "Full moon! Moments here! Lets go!" Lorelai sighs, wipes her tears and stands up. She sniffs one more time and then walks out of the room.
THE END>
